Political Report from The Grapevines 18/07/2008

First, I would like to apologize for not updating my blog for about a week. I was overwhelmed with work and I barely had time to eat and sleep this past week. I, however, was also updated with a lot of inside information about the goings on the Malaysian political front.

So, this is my belated report to be shared with the Malaysian public who pay taxes but unfortunately have to settle for whatever nonsense the MSM feeds them. Bear in mind that these information are what I’ve extracted from the “grapevines”.

1.0 The recent Pak Lah announcement of transition is a time buying strategy tailored for the coming UMNO elections to be held this coming December. Reports from UMNO rank and file shows that Pak Lah is extremely unpopular. Should Pak Lah decides to make a go this December under the current circumstances, he might go down in UMNO history as the first UMNO president to be defeated in an UMNO election.

2.0 Two years is a long time in politics and anything can happen in that duration. Pak Lah being in the PM’s Office, is able to conjour a lot of things that might ensure the continuation of Pak Lah’s rule in UMNO. But in the short run, Pak Lah needs to be able to fend off any threat to his throne this December.

3.0 Najib Tun Razak is NEVER fighter. He has never fought a fight ever in his 40 years career in UMNO. He has advanced himself in UMNO by the grace of his lineage and by his ability to side with the right camp in UMNO. And the important positions he received are presented to him on a silver platter.

3.1 Information i received from deep inside Ministry of Finance (MOF) says that
Najib is giving away a lot of contracts to Generals in the Army
3.2 Apparently, this is the only way Najib knows how to get loyalty and
cooperation. Now Army Generals are only interested in making personal wealth
rather than anything else.
3.3 Therefore, by corrupting the Generals, Najib is able to get total
cooperation from them in fulfilling his political ambition.
3.4 For instance, in the last election, the army contribet 200k postal votes for
UMNO. And on election day around 1200 hrs the postal votes were brought to
Putra World Trade Center for UMNO to distribute to their trouble areas.
3.5 However, on that day, there was a big quarell between Najib and Khairy
Jamaluddin on how the postal votes should be distributed. And since the
Generals were on Najib side, Najib managed to get a lion share of the postal
votes. It helped Najib to retain Pahang with such a big majority.
3.6 Najib has also created disessension among the Army since the Colonels are
kept out of the "money loop". SInce there is not enough money to go around
3.7 It is sad that before Najib current tenure as Minister of Defence, the Army
Generals still maintain their integrity and respectibility. 10 years under
Najib, all credibility are now flushed down the toilet.
3.8 How can Malaysians rely on a Prime Minister like Najib Tun Razak who has
never fought for anything in his life and gets his way by buying his way
thru using public funds?
3.9 Najib lacks any quality of a true leader. But what can we expect from
someone who has never felt hardship even for a minute in his entire life. He
was silver spoon fed directly to the Timbalan Perdana Menteri position.

4.0 Therefore, when the “transition plan” is presented to Najib Tun Razak, he agreed to it without hesitation. He didn’t even take some time to think about the impact of the plan.

5.0 Najib Tun Razak was confronted by his supporters and his respond was that “ I am a step away from the position of PM”. Najib is very happy to wait provided he the position if provided to him on a silver platter, much like his other positions before.

6.0 Apparently, to prize trophy is PAS. That’s right, Parti Islam Semalaysia. Pak Lah’s team is actively wooing certain quarters in PAS to shift to Barisan Nasional in whatever name. However, Najib Tun Razak is also doing his own wooing of PAS, even as we speak.

7.0 If PAS is brought in, then the BN2/3 will be restored and Barisan Nasional will regain 4 out of 5 states that they have lost, that is Perak, Selangor, Kedah and Kelantan. This is a great boost for Pak Lah to maintain his grip on PM’s office.

8.0 Also, Pak Lah’s profile is also lifted and that will be strong enough to fend off any effective threat to his position in UMNO. No one in UMNO will doubt Pak Lah anymore since the status quo has been restored.

9.0 Pak Lah is never an Islamists and his 4th Floor boys are never keen on Islamists politics. So, after PAS has served their purpose, they will get rid of PAS as well from Barisan Nasional. And my informer tells me that the part about getting rid of PAS is part of the whole grand plan. In other words, the Pak Lah team has no intention to make PAS a permanent member of the family. PAS is just a convenient tool for them, that’s all

10.0 At the same time, if PAS joins BN under the influence of Najib Tun Razak, then Pak Lah will have NO justification to continue in the PM’s office. Najib is also doing his own wooing, and NAjib even woo certain quarters in PAS personally. He met Ustaz Nasaruddin and Mustafa Ali and a few other leaders which I will name later, in London and discussed detailed plans for a PAS-UMNO cooperation but under a Najib Tun Razak initiative.

11.0 Basically, both Najib and Pak Lah offers the same thing. They are:
a.PAS will be given the MB position in Perak, Kedah, Kelantan and Selangor.
b. PAS will get exco positions in Pahang, Terengganu, Perlis and Johor.
c. PAS will be able to put up candidates in all seats held by PKR and DAP in
the next General Elections
d. PAS will be given a Timbalan Perdana Menteri position in the Malaysian
Cabinet. The candidate promised for the position is Ustaz Nasaruddin Mat Isa.
e. In addition, PAS will get 5 Full Cabinet Minister positions
f. PAS is also promised a number of Timbalan Menteri and Setiausaha Parlimen
g. In addition, there will be a number of Senatorships, GLC positions, projects
and many more

12.0 UMNO is wooing a section within PAS whom are politically irrelevant or simply too ambitious.
a. The irrelevant ones are:
i. Cikgu Mustafa Ali: His political career is almost over. His days are numbered and even today no one remembers him anymore. But, he still have some influence with the Presiden of PAS and Ustaz Nasaruddin Mat Isa.
ii. Ustaz Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman: He is merely an MP now and he has very little influence within PAS Kelantan or Pusat. He holds no more position in PAS Pusat and has no more influence. But, he has always been very friendly with UMNO even during the days when he was in Kelantan State Government.
iii. Ustaz Harun Taib: The former head of Dewan Ulama. He was defeated by Ustaz Nasaruddin Mat Isa in his bid to capture the Timbalan Presiden PAS Pusat by a landslide. He is now in political oblivion and slowly he is forgotten
b. The ambitious ones are as follows:
i. Ustaz Nasaruddin Mat Isa : He has always been a weak leader and he is always under the control of Cikgu Mustafa Ali. He is promised the position of Timbalan PErdana Menteri II if PAS joins Barisan Nasional
ii. Dato’ Dr Hasan Ali: He has always wanted to become the MB of Selangor. Even the night when election results was coming in, he was already on line with Khir Toyo trying to cut a deal with UMNO to form a join unity UMNO-PAS government in Selangor. Right now, he has been feeding the Presiden of PAS with half truth and lies about the Selangor State Government being taken over by anti malay and anti Islam elements.
iii. Dewan Ulama PAS Pusat is also ambitious because they think they can become relevant again by spearheading the effort for PAS to join BN.

13.0 Please note that the grand mastermind behind these entire move is Mustafa Ali. He is the main point of contact between UMNO and PAS. His effort has been rewarded by UMNO in the form:
a. Harakah is allowed to be printed twice a week as compared to twice a month before
b. The MB of Terengganu is willing to meet the entire PAS Terengganu Liasson committee. It is unprecendented and has never been done in any UMNO state government before.

14.0 Mustafa Ali is desperate because in two years time, his political relevance will be gone. He is promised a full senatorship and a position in the sitting Cabinet of Pak Lah should he succeed in bringing PAS into BArisan Nasional.

15.0 The main problem for these pro-UMNO faction in PAS is that they are small and that majority of PAS members wishes to remain in Pakatan Rakyat. Another stick in the mud for these group is that Mursyidul Am PAS Pusat,. Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat totally rejects this idea.

16.0 The Mursyidul Am argument are as follows:

a. UMNO cannot be trusted. The last time PAS allowed themselves to be used by UMNO, we were betrayed. And UMNO betrayed us with no feeling of remorse or regret, until now that is.
b. We have promised our electorate and they have given us their mandate. To join BN is to betray their mandate. Islam does not teach it’s followers to betray their commitments and promises.
c. PAS is a redundant body to UMNO. Once UMNO’s position is restored, there is no need for them to keep PAS anymore. Therefore, PAS will be betrayed again by UMNO
d. At that time, PAS would have lost the trust of Non Malays voters and also the Malay voters. PAS will be left to rot in some gutter somewhere and fade into oblivion.

17.0 Another good news is that at least 98% of PAS rank and file disagrees with this move. PAS members are happy with the current arrangement and they think PAS should be part of the new political era towards a better Malaysia.
a. Not take a risky enterprise and end with nothing at the end of the day.

18.0 PAS is fortunate because the younger generation in PAS is not in agreement to this move. They agree with the Mursyidul Am’s argument and they do not want to see PAS betray the promise they once made.
a. This particular move is made by elements in PAS that is already irrelevant and forgotten.
b. Most of the older generation have lived under UMNO’s cruelty and oppression unprecedented. The thought of joining BN again just repulse them.

19.0 PAS President has given a very damaging interview with the Siasah magazine in which he attacks the Selangor PR government based on misinformation and half-truths he received from Dato HAsan Ali. Dato Hasan Ali is desperate to become the MB of Selangor and he will do everything, including breaking the PR to achieve his dream

  1. If whatever being rumoured here are true, PAS would be making the biggest mistakes of their "perjuangan". Just because of the stupid notion that "ketuanan Melayu" being eroded following GE12, they are letting themselves to be bastardised by the Umnoputras. And, this is me talking as a true Malay...

    God help us all..

  2. If what is written here is going, to be a reality, then our beautiful Malaysia is as good as doomed.

I just can't imagine what would happen to the nation when UMNO led BN stoops so low to induct some religious zealots by luring them with positions and contracts.

I think this will be a major catastrophe to the nation.I sincerely hope the contemporary malays and bumis will not be so easily fooled.

I hope the contemporary and the young malays and bumis in general will do what the contemporary and young indians did by educating their elders to vote against the MIC and BN in the 12th GE.

The future of Malaysia is now in the rakyat's hands, irrespective of whether we are malays, chinese, indians, kadazan, iban, etc.Make the right choice and dont regret later.I think 50 years of slavery under the BN govt is more than enough. It's time for all peace loving and right thinking Malaysians to march forward and we deserve that without a single iota of doubt.

    God save the nation.

  3. If PAS cross over to BN & can easily offered a DPM,5 cabinet ministerial posts & deputy ministerial posts etc.., then very soon the Sabah & Sarawak team will cross over to PR in no time.
    That would be very interesting.

  4. May the wrath of God will be on Najib's side!!!

  5. dr suresh k has no right to call pas supporters religious zealots. i myself do not agree with hindraf, but would not call them religious zealots or hindu zealots.
talk like this will further antagonise the malays. and you cant win malaysia without the malays.
