UMNO Cannot Deny Their Complicity in the "Cow's Head" Demonstration

For one, the "take beer" banner is a dead giveaway (as the picture shows). The banner is unique only to UMNO and it's been used only by UMNO supporters/activists during the Permatang Pasir by-election. If this wasn't UMNO's handiwork, then why is this banner part of the demonstration?

And we all know that the issue of Section 23 temple was first brought into light by Noh Umar. It's a cheap racists poltical tactic by UMNO to incite hate so as to create dissatisfaction among Malay/Muslim electorate in Shah Alam against the Pakatan goverment.

As a result of Noh Omar's incitement, the demonstrators (whom i believe is paid by UMNO to demonstrate) when and take it a step further, that is, by bringing a severed cow's head as a sign of protest.

Another thing is that, only UMNO people has that amount of hate to openly transgress the Sedition Act. Only UMNO people are protected by the law from offenses related to inciting racial hatred and inciting sensitive issues. Other people are not fortunate enough and will never dare to cross the line.

So, in a way, Noh Omar is responsible for this particular act of racial and religous defacation committed by a group of unknown individuals who claims to represent the Section 23 residents.

True Muslims Would Not Defile Other Religion's Symbol Like What Happened

All over the muslims world, there exists hundreds of thousands of religous symbols and relics that is not Islamic in nature. But, over the years, Muslims have never taken any steps to destroy these religous symbols.

In Afghanistan and Pakistan, there exists Buddhists statues and temples aging in the thousands of years still standing. In Indonesia, we have the Brobodur Temple still standing in spite of the fact that the entire surrounding population have converted to Islam.

In short, Muslims are not thought to be disrespectful to other religion's symbols and signs. What the demonstrators are doing is against the teachings of Islam especially when the local Hindus DID NOT DO ANYTHING DISRESPECTFUL of ISLAM.

My Proposal: Leave the Section 19 Temple Where it is, and Sue PKNS for Lying to the Residents

I do not believe the Section 19 temple should be razed down. The temple has been there for more than 60 years, long before Shah Alam ever became a city. The Section 19 residents who were tricked by PKNS last time should sue PKNS for compensation.

It's not fair that the Section 19 temple has to be moved considering they were first there and they never wanted to distrub anyone. People came and lived in it's surrounding and those who came later should respect it's existence.

If those residents who were lied to feel the need to be compensated, then they should get it from PKNS and not force the Section 19 temple to be moved.

Pity we have UMNO trying to play up sensitive issues just to get political mileage and not have any regards for how other people feel and think.

Not 100% correct. The Talibans destroyed the Buddhist statutes at Bamiyan.

Anyway, this cow head incident, as clear as day, is an attempt to put the Pakatan state government in bad light. We all know who is the unseen hand in this.

Can the "speed of the force to intervene " in the protest to throw some light if it is a complicity though the banner is quite precise is one of it?

It is clear as day light that UMNO is the sponsor of this event. Only an idiot will deny this fact.
I grew up with Malays since the 1940s and as far as I know them, Malays are not the kind of people who will do what they did in section 23.
It is UMNO backed by PDRM. No ifs no buts.

Taleban in Texas for talks on gas pipeline

The 1,300km pipeline will carry gas across Afghanistan's harsh terrain
A senior delegation from the Taleban movement in Afghanistan is in the United States for talks with an international energy company that wants to construct a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan across Afghanistan to Pakistan.

A spokesman for the company, Unocal, said the Taleban were expected to spend several days at the company's headquarters in Sugarland, Texas.

Unocal says it has agreements both with Turkmenistan to sell its gas and with Pakistan to buy it.

The Afghan economy has been devasted by 20 years of civil war
But, despite the civil war in Afghanistan, Unocal has been in competition with an Argentinian firm, Bridas, to actually construct the pipeline.

Last month, the Argentinian firm, Bridas, announced that it was close to signing a two-billion dollar deal to build the pipeline, which would carry gas 1,300 kilometres from Turkmenistan to Pakistan, across Afghanistan.

In May, Taleban-controlled radio in Kabul said a visiting delegation from an Argentinian company had announced that pipeline construction would start "soon".

The radio has reported several visits to Kabul by Unocal and Bridas company officials over the past few months.

A BBC regional correspondent says the proposal to build a pipeline across Afghanistan is part of an international scramble to profit from developing the rich energy resources of the Caspian Sea

A Creeping Collapse in Credibility at the White House:
From ENRON Entanglements to UNOCAL Bringing the Taliban to Texas and Controlling Afghanistan
By Tom Turnipseed

The Bush Administration's entanglement with ENRON is beginning to unravel as it finally admits that Enron executives entered the White House six times last year to secretly plan the Administration's energy policy with Vice-President Cheney before the collapse of the Texas-based energy giant. Meanwhile, even more trouble for our former-Texas-oil-man-turned-President is brewing with reports that unveil UNOCAL, another big energy company, for being in bed with the Taliban, along with the U.S. government in a major, continuing effort to construct pipelines through Afghanistan from the petroleum-rich Caspian Basin in Central Asia. Beneath their burkas, UNOCAL is being exposed for giving the five star treatment to Taliban Mullahs in the Lone Star State in 1997. The "evil-ones" were also invited to meet with U.S. government officials in Washington, D.C.

According to a December 17, 1997 article in the British paper, The Telegraph, headlined, "Oil barons court Taliban in Texas," the Taliban was about to sign a "£2 billion contract with an American oil company to build a pipeline across the war-torn country. ... The Islamic warriors appear to have been persuaded to close the deal, not through delicate negotiation but by old-fashioned Texan hospitality. ... Dressed in traditional salwar khameez,Afghan waistcoats and loose, black turbans, the high-ranking delegation was given VIP treatment during the four-day stay."

At the same time, U.S. government documents reveal that the Taliban were harboring Osama bin Laden as their "guest" since June 1996. By then, bin Laden had: been expelled by Sudan in early 1996 in response to US insistence and the threat of UN sanctions; publicly declared war against the U.S. on or about August 23, 1996; pronounced the bombings in Riyadh and at Khobar in Saudi Arabia killing 19 US servicemen as 'praiseworthy terrorism', promising that other attacks would follow in November 1996 and further admitted carrying out attacks on U.S. military personnel in Somalia in 1993 and Yemen in 1992, declaring that "we used to hunt them down in Mogadishu"; stated in an interview broadcast in February 1997 that "if someone can kill an American soldier, it is better than wasting time on other matters." Evidence was also developing which linked bin Laden to: the 1995 bombing of a U.S. military barracks in Riyadh which killed five; Ramzi Yuosef, who led the 1993 World Trade Center attacks; and a 1994 assassination plot against President Clinton in the Philippines.

Back in Houston, the Taliban was learning how the "other half lives," and according to The Telegraph, "stayed in a five-star hotel and were chauffeured in a company minibus." The Taliban representatives "...were amazed by the luxurious homes of Texan oil barons. Invited to dinner at the palatial home of Martin Miller, a vice-president of Unocal, they marveled at his swimming pool, views of the golf course and six bathrooms." Mr. Miller, said he hoped that UNOCAL had clinched the deal.

Dick Cheney was then CEO of Haliburton Corporation, a pipeline services vendor based in Texas. Gushed Cheney in 1998, "I can't think of a time when we've had a region emerge as suddenly to become as strategically significant as the Caspian. It's almost as if the opportunities have arisen overnight. The good Lord didn't see fit to put oil and gas only where there are democratically elected regimes friendly to the United States. Occasionally we have to operate in places where, all things considered, one would not normally choose to go. But we go where the business is." Would Cheney bargain with the harborers of U.S. troop killers if that's where the business was?

The Telegraph reported that Unocal had promised to start building the pipeline and paying the Taliban immediately, with the added inducements and a donation of £500,000 to the University of Nebraska for courses in Afghanistan to train 400 teachers, electricians, carpenters and pipefitters.

The Telegraph also reported, "The US government, which in the past has branded the Taliban's policies against women and children "despicable", appears anxious to please the fundamentalists to clinch the lucrative pipeline contract." In a paper prepared by Neamatollah Nojumi, at the Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Nojumi wrote in August 1997 that Madeline Albright sat in a "full-dress CIA briefing" on the Caspian region. CIA agents then accompanied "some well-trained petroleum engineers" to the region. Albright concluded that shaping the region's policies was "one of the most exciting things that we can do."

It's also exciting to the Bush Administration. According to the authors of Bin Laden, the Hidden Truth, one of the FBI's leading counter terrorism agents, John O'Neill, resigned last year in protest over the Bush Administration's alleged obstruction of his investigation into bin Laden. (A similar complaint has been filed on behalf of another unidentified FBI Agent by the conservative Judicial Watch public interest group.) Supposedly the Bush Administration had been meeting since January 2001 with the Taliban, and was also reluctant to offend Saudi Arabians who O'Neill had linked to bin Laden. Mr. O'Neill, after leaving the FBI, assumed the

Mr. O'Neill, after leaving the FBI, assumed the position of security director at the World Trade Center, where he was killed in the 911 attacks.

As America's New War now begins focusing on other "rogue nations," UNOCAL's stars have magically aligned. About two months after the Houston parties, UNOCAL executive John Maresca addressed the House Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific and urged support for establishment of an investor-friendly climate in Afghanistan, "... we have made it clear that construction of our proposed pipeline cannot begin until a recognized government is in place that has the confidence of governments, lenders and our company." Meaning that UNOCAL's ability to construct the Afghan pipeline was a cause worthy of U.S. taxpayer dollars.

Maresca's prayers have been answered with the Taliban's replacement. As reported in Le Monde, the new Afghan government's head, Hamid Karzai, formerly served as a UNOCAL consultant. Only nine days after Karzai's ascension, President Bush nominated another UNOCAL consultant and former Taliban defender, Zalmay Khalilzad, as his special envoy to Afghanistan.

When UNOCAL makes big bucks from the pipeline they should donate 50% of all pretax profits to the 911 Fund. And they should also cut a very special check to the widow of FBI Agent O'Neill.

Dear Tulangbesi
Glad that you have explained all this and I hope it is not a cover up for what those hooligans did. I was shocked at the disrespectfulness for other religions. I am sure many feel the way I did. We thought that Muslims have no respect for others. However, with your explanations and other true good muslims who have condemned their acts, most of us have calmed down. These dirty political tacticcs might destroy PR coz many non muslims would firtst think it is the act of PR coz UMNO always preach they are moderate muslims and PAS are the more extremes. So, PR and PAS have be careful of their tactics to destroy PR. I, myself was also tricked for a moment so why not others.

You may not see it as an act to disrespect buddhism, but blowing up something as symbolic to that is disrespectful, and symbolicly disrespectful. There are other ways to bring the msg across for international community to put more importance on ppl dying from drought than to blow the statues up. That kind of action only serves to perpetuate the stereotype of a violent religion. The ability to self-reflect is important, don't you think? One must be able to reflect on one's action etc, which goes a longer way to show islam is really a beautiful religion, rather than only denouncing islamaphobia while incidences like these that perpetuates the bad stereotype are encouraged.

very funny that you believe everything the Taliban claimed.

Being the government, wasn't their responsibility to take care of the people, instead of shifting the blame on UN??

"I shall blow up something,if you don't give donation." absolute act of mafia asking for ransom, don't you think?

BTW, since the statues were the heritage of the Afgan PEOPLE, don't you think the Taliban (being the good guys some Muslims like to believe) should seek permission from the PEOPLE before they decided to blow them up?
To me, more like the style of Mao and Stalin.

Suddenly out of nowhere, the UN came and said they wanted to spend millions of dollars on refurbishing the Bamiyan statue.

Dear Sir,

It is a sad episod for the muslim community. It has downgraded the muslim world to its lowest point, for Islam is a religion of tollarance and is known to respect the existence of other believers. KJ has even incited the infidle to bring along the Quran to be burnt in their protest if you read in between the lines of his comment. This is very dangerous indeed. Are the current crop leaders looking forward to another May 13? Our country is already in deep shit, both economically and on international news front. We are going into recession indeed we are already in recession. FDI is very negligible this year compared to last year (RM4.2 B, compared to RM42 B, this time around) The export market is negative, unemployment rate is rising by the day. NPL is accumulating and piling and so credit cards defaulters on the rise. The Malays are the poorer lots with very limited purchasing power even though they are said to enjoy the BUMIPUTRA status. The government should address these pertinent issues and get the country out of this economic doldrum. There is no positive sign of economic recovery in America and Europe, only false hope to boast the Dow Jones and make believes on economic recovery. The data only looks good since the injection of economic stimulus packages, but it wont work miracle in the short terms. As the mist clears you will see the obstacles. Can Malaysia afford a national disaster? Only greedy leaders who are out to maintain their power supermacy and personal agenda will cook up racial issues. We Malaysian must really be united as 1Malaysia in the true sense of the slogan.
